As we can see from the renders, the Pixel 8a does have some minor changes in its design compared to its predecessor. Its most prominent feature, the camera visor, remains intact, and its dimensions, coming in at 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm which means the phone will be a touch smaller, less wider, and slimmer than Pixel 7a who’s dimensions stand at 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0mm.

On the rear panel of Pixel 8a, you can spot a camera visor that houses two camera sensors. As far as the front goes, we get a Circa 6.1-inch flat screen design, with a hole-punch camera cut out towards the top of the display, with relatively thin bezels on the sides and a small chin on the bottom.

One of the interesting changes that one can notice from the renders is just like the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8, the Pixel 8a will also be getting a redesigned body with rounded corners, departing from the boxy shape of its predecessor.

The display also seems to have a 2.5D curved glass on top. The USB Type-C port and stereo speakers are located on the bottom edge, while the top edge occupies what seems to be an ultra-wideband Antenna and earpiece. The power button and volume rocker are situated on the right edge, and the Google logo is located on the back. Finally, the SIM tray can be found on the left edge. Cellular antenna bands are visible in the top, left, and right-hand side edges of the phone.

What We Know about the Pixel 8a so far?

In a noteworthy development back in August, a Google smartphone with the codename ‘Akita’ surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking website, widely believed to be the upcoming Google Pixel 8a. According to the Geekbench listing, the Pixel 8a is powered by an underclocked variant of the Tensor G3 chipset, coupled with the Mali-G715 GPU. The smartphone is listed with 8GB of RAM and runs on Android 14.

When it comes to performance, the Pixel 8a has achieved a single-core score of 1,218 and a multi-core score of 3,175. Speculation abounds that Google may retain the same camera hardware but with a focus on further optimization for the Pixel 8a.
